Hints to PEKE-FACE
The Peke-face is no Persian and
only recognized in USA and in red, red classic tabby and red mackerel tabby
colors. There is only a small amount of cats available.
A Peke-face in any other color shall have wins withheld.
Peke-face cats resemble the Pekinese dog, whence comes
the name.
There is a cascading of skin under the eyes. The nose
must be very short with a deep "stop" or indentation between the eyes. The forehead
curves outward with an indentation or depression in the bone causing a "pinch"
(the chin appears and feels as if it were separated from the rest of the cheek
and face). The muzzle is broad and decidedly wrinkled, with a wrinkle running
from the inside corner of the eye to the outside corner of the mouth. The eyes
are large, very round, set wide apart, and very prominent.
The Peke-face
have a different expression from the Standard of Points for "Persian".
- Objections
- crooked underjaw
- large upright ears, too closely set
- eyes too small and closely set, or not prominent enough
to give the characteristic "owl-eyes" appearance
- excessive protrusion of eyes, giving a pop-eyed appearance.
- Penalize
- for tooth irregularities
- deformities of the mouth and chin
- nose so deformed as to cause chronic sniffles or eye
discharges.
