The coat color distribution should be approximately 5/6ths white and 1/6th color. The belly must be white. The color black should be raven black, the red deep and warm, and the paler shades are preferred in the blue, cream and lilac. Markings as for the other coat colors and patterns.

The patches are usually found on the head, back and tail, but may involve also the legs and feet.

• The colored patches should not be brindled. Pigment flecks in the nose leather or black whiskers are faults, except in the tortoiseshell vans.
